Sweet and Salty Fondue (Maple Baked Apples)

What is the perfect combo of savoury and sweet? “Cheese fondue and apples,” says 1001 Fondues!

Ingredients
  • 2 fondues Chic! au cidre (cider) by 1001 Fondues, 350 g (12 oz.)
  • 30 mL (2 tbsp.) butter
  • 2 apples, peeled and diced
  • 30 mL (2 tbsp.) maple sugar or brown sugar
  • 60 mL (1/4 cup) maple syrup
  • Bread crouton
Preparation
  1. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add apples and maple sugar and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are slightly caramelized.
  2. Add maple syrup and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Prepare the fondue according to package cooking instructions.
  4. Add caramelized apples and serve with bread croutons.

Note: Alternatively, simply add the diced raw apples to the fondue, prepared according to the cooking instructions on the package, and drizzle with maple syrup.
