That’s right—four decades of delighting countless families during convivial evenings and touching the hearts of generations. We are thrilled to have brought a touch of magic to your culinary world, enriching every moment shared around our fondue pots.

Here’s a glimpse into the key moments of a unique Quebec odyssey, marked by 1001 adventures, that has continued to captivate, amaze, and awaken the joie de vivre since 1984!
The Early Steps: A Pioneering Vision
While it is true that 1001 Fondues was very much in its early stages in 1984, its founder, Jean-Yves Lapointe, was already thinking ahead when he purchased the restaurant Le Chalet Suisse (later known as Au Café Suisse and La Grolla) in Old Quebec. Back in the day, when people spoke of cheese fondue, they automatically evoked the Swiss mountain dish, traditionally prepared only in the depths of winter.
It didn’t take long for the spike to ignite a few years later, leading Mr. Lapointe, accompanied by his daughter Caroline, to embark on the pioneering stage adventure of Quebec craft cheese fondue.
Rethinking Fondue
However, it soon became clear that this endeavour would necessitate rethinking the art and pleasure of cheese fondue from an entirely new, resolutely local perspective. Ultimately, this meant enjoying fondue all year round, through every season. Spring, summer, fall, and winter—no matter the time of year, Quebec cheese fondue will now satisfy both the curious and the most discerning gourmets!
40 Years of Boldness and Innovation … and It Continues!
In this great adventure, audacity and innovation were the two essential ingredients. Nearly 40 years later, the Quebec City-based family business is still following the same path. In addition to providing fondue lovers with a world of togetherness, simplicity, instant comfort and deliciously easy fun around the pot, 1001 Fondues continues to grow and introduce new lactose and gluten-free fondues, such as the Chic! Fondue line. These products feature unique blends of ingredients, including artisan cheeses, beer from local microbreweries, cider, mead, gin and even Quebec whisky. And let’s not forget the highly celebrated Hot Fondue Bread !

The company is dedicated to championing local cheeses and alcohols, while captivating the hearts and palates of those who dare to explore its offerings!
The fondues—or rather, the culinary creations—of the company are crafted with Quebec cheeses sourced from 100% Canadian milk. 1001 Fondues prides itself on forging unique partnerships, working with about thirty regional collaborators, including vineyards, distilleries, and microbreweries.
